Personally, I would just sand/lap the one you already have... especially if it has a pretty consistent diameter along the length of the rod. Be interesting to know if the tube that the spar slips...

Carbon fiber rods are manufactured in a process called pultrusions. Pultruded shapes have very straight fibers cured at high temperature resulting in high fiber to resin ratios and very stiff parts....

As much as a PITA as it may be, if it were me personally... I would be raising the turbine & resetting the pipe. Moving the tanks forward or the turbine back will alter the final weight & balance...
