Default Maj. Woody's X-Treme Jets F-4C Phantom

Hi Guys.
I'm back! I was out of turbines for about 3 months when I decided I could not let you guys have all the fun
This is the start of my build thread on the new X-Treme Jets F-4C Phantom. The jet is the smaller 1/9.5 Scale which works out to be 75" long with a 53" wingspan. I really think this will be the ideal size for me for regular flying. I won't need to pull a trailer everywhere I go. Actually I can't....I sold that too[X(] The jet was ordered today through BVM. I also ordered all the needed accessories to complete the jet. I am on the fence for power however. I am waiting for the new Jetcat P100 which is said to produce 23lbs of thrust. This is going to be an awesome motor considering it is the same diameter as the P70 but not as long I'm told. My other option is to drop in a P120 with 30lbs of thrust. Anton says the P100 would be perfect but you know how I like to fly. I wish I could have seen the size of the model in person and knew the overall ready to fly empty weight (no fuel) of the jet. I am really looking forward to this build and the quality of the construction and finish. Those who already have the new Phantom are very pleased with the kit. Say tuned for updates as they happen. Here is the color I chose.....OF COURSE!

Dom,

So what do you think about a P-120 in that F-4? That's all I have to put in it - I'm hoping that's not too big. BVM's F-4 says 25-35 lbs of thrust and its only 1" longer and 2" greater wing span. Is the BVM one that much bigger then the Xtreme jets F-4?

Put a P-120SX in it. You'll be happier with the performance. Besides, I'll buy it off you if you decide to go back to hair dryers and Lady Schicks.

Ditto. I originally flew my BVM F-4 with something less than 30lbs of thrust, then moved up to a 36lb thrust Pegasus. It flew OK on less power but not with authority until I put in the Pegasus. Plus it's nice to have that extra punch if you happen to get behind the power curve on approach.

FYI, my BV F-4 was about 27lbs dry.

I am leaning toward the 120SX. I do not want the six cylinder Mustang I want the Roush! Bob, as long as it will fit in there, we can always dial it back. The video of Antons prototype says it had a P120 in it.

Welcome back to the hobby. We are looking forward to seeing your build and really anxious to see someone get one of the small F-4s flying.

Well I made a decision.....I ordered the P120SX! I needed those extra 7 pounds of thrust. In the long run, an appropriately powered plane would bore me I should have it in about a week or so. Special thanks to Bob Wilcox for his continued support!

Dom,
Oh Boy! Will she fit in the C150?

I have the P120SX on the Over Reaction and have loved every second! GREAT choice for "push"!

Mike...looking good. Did the pipe come with the bellmouth or did you have to buy it from Tam? Did the cockpit come with pilots like stated in the ad? If not, what pilots did you use?
Thanks!

My Bran New JetCat P120SX arrived today! Thank you Bob Wilcox! I also received a large order from Dreamworks last week that had all the equipment I need for my install. Heck all I need now is an Airframe[X(] I hope to get that in the next month or so.

Brand new Jetcat 120SX...sweet! I look forward to following your build.

One thing I did notice in your first post is that you say the P-100 is the same diameter as the P-70. I wonder if the -100 will fit in a -70 mount? I've got a P-70 I want to replace with something a little stronger and with better throttle response.

Thanks guys.
Bob Wilcox say the P100 uses the same mounting straps as the P70 so you should be fine.
